AB 2246 by Assemblyman Howard Wayne (D-San Diego) - This law as of January 1, 2001, requires businesses to take all reasonable steps possible to destroy any document that identifies, relates to, describes or is capable of being associated with a particular individual prior to their disposal.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) are regulations that govern privacy, security and electronic transaction standards for health care information. (Integrity Shred complies with HIPAA security standards.)
