Your office computers have hard drives, but did you know that the copy machine may also have a hard drive? The copy machines that are around may also have a hard drive in it too. Yes the more expensive copiers do have hard drives.

Disk Drive Destruction Done Right
So, how do you go about making these hard drives and the information on them useless? There are several ways to do this.
- You can run a software program overwrites the information on the hard drive and reformat it.
- And of course there's degaussing (putting the hard drive in a very strong magnetic field) which erases all the information on the hard drive
- There are machines that punch a physical hole through the hard drive and deform the data platter.
These methods may work just fine, but the first two of the methods leave the hard drive intact and the third leaves the hard drive virtually reusable.
